Sales and Marketing Manager

Job purpose

The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic sales and marketing plans to drive business growth, increase market share and brand visibility for our product portfolio. This role involves leading the sales and marketing teams, fostering strong customer relationships, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve company objectives.

Key responsibilities

  • Responsible for meeting Vet Centre’s overall sales targets by managing the sales team and assisting the sales team to set aggressive, but realistic, monthly objectives and provide them with the support required to attain those goals.
  • Develop and continuously analyze marketing plans while maintaining control over budgets and expenses thereof.
  • Schedule and track sales and marketing activities, and ensuring time execution, follow ups and conversion into sales leads.
  • Support Business Development in research and developing new market opportunities/plans, understand consumer requirements, identifying market trends and revising strategy improvements to achieve the company’s business goals.
  • Maintain strong relationships with key clients by making regular visits, understanding their needs and anticipating new marketing opportunities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain sales and marketing operational policies and ensure direct reports’ adherence.
  • Ensure that the master customer database is always updated for proactive engagements and business decision making.
  • Coordinate promotional activities, advertising campaigns, and product launches to increase brand awareness and sales conversion.
  • Collaborate with product development and supply chain teams to ensure customer needs are met consistently and efficiently.

Educational qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Professional certifications e.g. CIM is an added advantage

Specific experience, knowledge & skills required

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in sales and marketing, preferably in the veterinary, animal health, or pharmaceutical sectors.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and leading successful marketing campaigns.
  • Customer-focused with excellent relationship building skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with a passion for developing employees.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinker with analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Organizational and Project management skills
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to maximize business opportunities.
  • Proficiency in using Sales, CRM software and other relevant digital marketing tools is an added advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within Uganda.
