Area Sales Manager

Job purpose

To promote and sell Vet Centre products and offer support to assigned Distributors to grow the business using innovative sales and marketing strategies to achieve set sales targets. This person shall be responsible for generating new business and managing existing business relationships to maximize revenue and profitability for the products, while creating awareness in animal health.

Key responsibilities

  • Execute sales strategies and prospect for new accounts in the geographical location, deliver agreed annual sales revenue and margin targets.
  • Prepare quarterly forecasts to monitor progress.
  • Collect and analyze sales and marketing data in the area to determine the most effective techniques to apply across various segments and products.
  • Raise awareness of all products imported into the country within the assigned region through customer engagements (tradeshows, conferences, workshops), mass media sensitizations, farm visits, marketing visual material etc.
  • Influence with integrity by identifying each customer’s business needs and then leveraging consumer insights and trends to support your recommendations.
  • Monitor price transmissions throughout the value chain to ensure all stakeholders are profiting as envisaged in the pricelist.
  • Manage logistics for the products sold to ensure timely delivery at optimum conditions and cost.
  • Conduct market analysis to be aware of competitor sales and marketing activities, products and services and make recommendations.
  • Call on and support existing and potential clients to create targeted, brand-building sales and marketing programs to drive volume and hit quantitative and qualitative sales goals.
  • Manage Advisory to customers by emphasizing product features and explaining the capabilities and limitations, to guide in selection of appropriate products that meet their animals’ needs, specifications and regulations.
  • Update the customer database on a regular basis and use it to track business progress with existing and potential customers.
  • Utilize the field-based systems and resources availed to capture accurate data and make informed decisions to advise Sales and Marketing management.
  • Be the primary contact for VoC and drive positive customer experience and satisfaction in the region.

Educational requirements

  • Minimum of a Diploma in Animal Science or Veterinary Medicine or a related field
  • Certificate of practice from Uganda Veterinary Board is an added advantage

Specific experience, knowledge & skills required

  • A minimum of 2 years sales and marketing experience within the veterinary pharmaceutical industry.
  • Knowledge of basic marketing principles with capability to apply sales and marketing concepts.
  • Market intelligence gathering and analysis skills.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions, policies and data.
  • Negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with others in a professional manner and maintaining effective working. relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • Proficiency in using MS office packages.
  • Problem analysis and solving.
