Technical Sales Representative – Mbarara branch

Job purpose

To warmly receive and assist walk-in customers, addressing their inquiries with professionalism and care while utilizing strong veterinary knowledge to match products or solutions to customer needs. Required are active listening and a consultative sales approach to provide accurate guidance, ensure a positive customer experience, and appropriately identify and escalate issues to a supervisor when necessary.

Key responsibilities

• Explain the features of various pharmaceutical products to customers by understanding customer needs and prescribing the appropriate drugs to them.
• Issue accurate receipts to customers for drugs purchased.
• Account for sales sold under your accounts.
• Identify new customer prospects by following up on leads.
• Network with key stakeholders to build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, stockists, cooperatives and other partners in the region to not only ensure high levels of satisfaction and loyalty but also fuel mutually beneficial relationships.
• Update the customer database on a regular basis and use it to track business progress with existing and potential customers.
• Emphasize product features and explain the capabilities and limitations of Vet Centre products and services in line with customer animals’ needs, product specifications and regulations.
• Post-sale follow ups with customers to make sure that they are satisfied with their purchases and address customer issues promptly, ensuring alignment with Vet Centre’s standards.
• Manage inventory levels at the display counters through ordering optimum levels, maintaining stock records and anticipating fast selling products while assessing seasonal changes.
• Market intelligence for insights on market trends, pricing, competitors and customer needs for improvement areas and decision making.
• Maintain cleanliness of the display area and ensure it is secure at all times.
• Carry out stock taking at the assigned timeframes and share timely and accurate reports.
• Adhere to the Vet Centre Standard Operating Procedures at all times.

Educational qualification

• Minimum of a Diploma in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine or a related field.
• Certificate of practice from Uganda Veterinary Board is a must.

Specific experience, knowledge and skills

• A minimum of 2 years of sales and marketing experience within the veterinary pharmaceutical, with demonstrated ability in consistently exceeding sales targets.
• Veterinary knowledge: one who possesses an understanding of the relationship between drugs and common animal diseases.
• Selling skills: one who has the ability to undertake the sales process of prospecting, cold calling, nurturing, engaging, presenting, negotiating and closing a sale.
• Data driven marketing: ability to use available data to determine what is working within the market and what is not working, target and convert customers into long term and high value customers in order to create fine segments that improve customer conversion ratios.
• Ability to research and analyze market/industry/customers and to apply that information to manage accounts and increase sales.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business and professional journals, technical procedures, instructions and governmental regulations that affect our industry.
• Proficiency in using MS office packages.
