Description
Hitet 120 Injection is a broad-spectrum antibiotic containing oxytetracycline 120 mg/ml, widely used in livestock across Uganda for the treatment of bacterial and tick-borne infections.
It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as organisms responsible for diseases such as anaplasmosis, heartwater, and other common livestock infections.
Hitet 120 works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, stopping the growth and spread of infection. It is a trusted treatment option for farmers managing cattle, goats, sheep, and pigs under both smallholder and commercial systems.
Composition:
Each ml contains:
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride – 120 mg
Indications (Uses):
Cattle, Goats, Sheep, and Pigs:
For the treatment of infections caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms, including:
Respiratory infections (pneumonia)
Tick-borne diseases (e.g., anaplasmosis, heartwater)
Mastitis
Wound infections and abscesses
Foot rot
Enteritis and gastrointestinal infections
Urogenital infections
Dosage & Administration:
Administer by intramuscular injection
General Dosage:
1 ml per 10 kg body weight
Repeat after 24 hours if necessary, as directed by a veterinarian
Administration Guidelines:
Do not administer more than recommended volume per injection site
Use sterile equipment
Follow veterinary guidance for treatment duration
Contraindications:
Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to tetracyclines
Avoid use in animals with severe liver or kidney impairment
Do not administer concurrently with penicillins or other incompatible antibiotics
Side Effects:
Temporary swelling may occur at the injection site
High doses may cause mild digestive disturbances
Discoloration of teeth may occur in young animals

Meat and Offal: 21 days
Milk: 5–7 days
