Description
Ceftionel-50 Injectable contains ceftiofur (as hydrochloride) 50 mg/ml, a semisynthetic, third-generation, broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic.
It is used in cattle and pigs for the control and treatment of bacterial infections, particularly of the respiratory system, as well as foot rot and acute postpartum metritis in cattle. Ceftiofur is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria and works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.
After administration, ceftiofur is widely distributed in the body and is mainly excreted via urine and faeces.
