Description

Limoxin-100 Injection by Interchemie contains oxytetracycline 100 mg/ml, a well-established broad-spectrum antibiotic used in livestock production.

It is widely used across Uganda for the treatment of bacterial and tick-borne infections in cattle, goats, sheep, and pigs. Limoxin-100 is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, as well as organisms responsible for common livestock diseases.

Oxytetracycline works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, helping to control infection and support recovery. It is commonly used in both smallholder and commercial farming systems due to its reliability and affordability.

Composition:

Each ml contains:

Oxytetracycline hydrochloride – 100 mg

Indications (Uses):

Cattle, Goats, Sheep, and Pigs:

For the treatment of infections caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive organisms, including:

Respiratory infections (pneumonia)

Tick-borne diseases (e.g., anaplasmosis, heartwater)

Mastitis

Foot rot

Wound infections and abscesses

Enteritis and diarrhea

Urogenital infections

Dosage & Administration:

Administer by intramuscular injection

General Dosage:

1 ml per 10 kg body weight daily

Treatment duration: 3–5 days or as directed by a veterinarian

Administration Guidelines:

Do not exceed recommended dose

Avoid injecting large volumes at a single site

Use sterile equipment

Follow veterinary guidance for treatment

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines

Animals with severe liver or kidney impairment

Do not use concurrently with penicillins or other incompatible antibiotics

Side Effects:

Temporary swelling at injection site

Possible digestive disturbances at high doses

Teeth discoloration in young animals

Withdrawal Periods:

Meat and Offal: 21 days

Milk: 5–7 days
